Hero of the Month: “Joe the Plumber” October 17, 2008

Posted by thestellaranomaly in Hero of the Month.

We all know who he is by now, but if you’ve been living under a rock for the past week you can inform yourself here, here, and here. Thanks to Michelle Malkin, Hotair, ABC, and the BBC.  Forget Palinmania, it’s Wurzelbachermania now! The reason this guy is so important is because he perfectly symbolizes what Obama’s redistribution and socialist tax policies would do to America’s economy.  And he articulated the fundamental flaws of Obama’s plans much more effectively than McCain or Palin ever have.

Obama wants to raise taxes for couples and businesses making over $250,000 and for singles making over $200,000 a year.  He would raise the already high 36% tax rate to 39%. Look at the latter number-39-that is basically 40%. Obama wants to “spread the wealth” by taking close to 40% of people’s income and give it to other people who didn’t work for it and don’t deserve it! Senator Obama is basically saying, “I know best and I know how to spend your money better than you do; trust me, I’m a smart ivy-league educated politician, and your just a simple minded plumber!”

The core of Obama’s progressive tax policies is the socialist ideal called income redistribution.  Under our current tax system, people who make more money pay higher taxes.  Rich people in America pay a disproportunate amount of the tax revenues.  Quite frankly, that’s discriminatory! I thought we didn’t treat one type of person one way and another type of person a different way here in America.  Why not a flat tax rate for everyone? Liberals are supposed to be about equality, but taking more money from people just because they’re successful and giving it to others because they’re not is the exact opposite of fair treatment.  Frankly, that kind of political thinking is the philosophy of a thief.  Obama’s proposed policies provide disincentives to do well and prosper.  I thought we wanted people to work hard and become rich here in the US, isn’t that the American dream? What Obama is basically saying is the harder you work, the more successful you become, the more money I’m going to take from you.

Americans live in the greatest state because we provide the most amount of freedom for people to grow and prosper.  Think about it, we’re the richest and most powerful country, with the highest standard of living in the world, and we’re barely over 200 years old! We’re richer and more powerful than countries with thousands of years of history on us.  That’s because we have the freest economy.  Other countries who have just liberalized their economies have only recently started to do well also.  Look at China and India for instance.  The fact that Obama wants more government meddling is quite worrisome.  It indicates a lack of knowledge of economic history.

It’s the “Joe the Plumbers” of the world who would be devastated most by Obama’s plan.  So Joe, if  you’re out there, keep talking buddy, America needs you!
